Introduction to Circus Arts

5 ECTS | 75€ | On-site in Turku | 1-30 August 2024 with contact teaching 5-16 August 2024

Gain experience and knowledge of different circus disciplines and techniques used in them, try new things in circus disciplines and learn new skills, work as a team with other students. 

Learning outcomes

Methods

This course includes teacher-led classes from Monday to Friday from 9:00 – 16:00 (9:00 am – 4:00 pm). Course includes two written assignments.

The start and/or finish of the course is completed online.

Place: Mainly in Turku Linnankatu Art Campus (Linnankatu 60), but includes also online studying.  

Undergraduate students with at least two years completed of Bachelor’s studies in any field. No previous experience in circus required. 

Classes from Monday to Friday:

9:00 – 10:20   1st class

10:40 – 12:00   2nd class

12:00 – 13:00   BREAK / LUNCH HOUR

13:00 – 14:20   3rd class

14:40 – 16:00   4th class

Time reserved for written assignments: 5 hours

To classes students are requested to bring their own water bottle and wear clothes, that are suitable for exercising. No shoes required.

Pass/fail

Factors considered in assessment are attendance in circus classes, student’s attitude and motivation to try different things in classes, working in groups and accomplishing the assignments in this course.

Accepted: Attendance in minimum 80% of circus classes, completing and returning course assignments in time, showing good attitude towards group members and trying out different circus disciplines.

Failed: Attendance in circus classes is under 80%, course assignments are not compeletd or returned to teachers, constantly performing bad attitude towards classes and other group members.
